The EHLT-D Series powered high lift pallet truck is engineered to bridge the gap between transport logistics and ergonomic assembly operations. Yes, formal training and employer certification are legally required to operate a powered pallet truck (classified as a Class 3 Powered Industrial Truck/PIT by OSHA and ANSI). While it does not require a government-issued “license,” OSHA standard 1910.178 mandates a documented program of formal instruction, practical training, and on-site evaluation led by your employerOSHA. Only after passing this evaluation and receiving written certification (valid for 3 years) can you operate one legally. Refresher training is required after accidents, unsafe operation, or equipment/worksite changes. Note: Manual pallet jacks are exempt from these certification rules.
